Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled
Jesus is Concerned About You
Jn. 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.2 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.4 “And where I go you know, and the way you know.”5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus disciples were completely confused and discouraged just as many of us are completely confused and discouraged here today. Jesus had said He was leaving, that He would die, that one of them was a traitor, that Peter would disown Him three times, that Satan was at work against all of them and that all the disciples would fall away. In today’s term’s all that drama seriously depressed them.
But Jesus proclaimed to His disciples in this text of scriptures just as He says to us right now that He was concerned about our hearts, our state of mind our feelings our intimate desires and the cares of life all of our worries our feelings.
At this time of His ministry as He began to reveal to His followers that He must die for humanity so that He could redeem lost man back to His Father. The reality of His death began to sink in and they were beginning to understand what He was teaching them all along. The finality of death sometimes brings us to a place of hurt, fear, loneliness, anger and the list can go on but just as Jesus said in His Word Let not your Heart be troubled stirred, agitated stressed hurt depressed. Our heart is the center of his personality not the muscle that’s pumping blood through our bodies. There is a place that Jesus wants to take us that will give us peace and joy that is unshakable. It comes by a firm trust in God the Father and Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, they can relieve our soul-sorrow and sustain us in our coming tests. When Jesus said, Trust in God; trust also in Me, He was giving a command, not making statement. Not even death will be a terror because Jesus went to prepare a place for us in heaven, the Father’s house. For all those who put their trust in Him.
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself;”
Jesus wants to receive you He wants to come and live in you so that He may comfort you
Jn. 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will *give you another Helper, * that He may abide with you forever the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Another, One besides, another of the same kind. The word shows similarities but diversities of operation and ministries. Jesus left to send another Comforter one who is His equal. He is saying one besides Me and in addition to Me but one just like Me. He will do in My absence what I would do if I were physically present with you.He will be with you forever to help, strengthen and lead you into all peace. The Spirit’s coming assures that Jesus work was finished and that we can live with Him forever and that we can face tomorrow in Gods power.
Rom.5 Therefore, having been *justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in *hope of the glory of God.
